In honor of International Women's Day, Apex Beauty Academy students and instructors spent a Saturday morning at a Durham women's shelter, offering free hair, nail, and makeup services to residents and their families.

More than 35 women and children received services during the four-hour event, which was organized entirely by our student government association with support from faculty and community partners.

"It reminded me why I chose this career. Making someone feel beautiful, confident, and seen β€” that's powerful." β€” Jasmine T., Cosmetology student

Services provided included haircuts and styling, manicures, brow grooming, and light makeup application. The event also featured a self-care corner with donated skincare samples and a lunch provided by a local restaurant.

The shelter's program coordinator said the event had a visible impact on the mood and confidence of participants. "The Apex team treated every woman like royalty. We are so grateful for their generosity."

Apex Beauty Academy is committed to giving back to the communities we serve. We plan to host similar events quarterly throughout 2026.
